Indiana MATHCOUNTS has a long tradition of excellence in Indiana. We are working closely with the state committee to help fill in some of the funding gaps that have arisen over the years and to help chart a strong course foward financially. The IMEI will also serve as the sponsor for the national team and work with the state committee to come up with creative ways to increase the number of schools and students participating in Indiana.
Every year since 1990, with only a couple of exceptions, Indiana has sent 25+ students to ARML (American Regional Math League) in Iowa. Some years, more than 50 Indiana students were able to enjoy this wonderful experience. The IMEI will provide financial support to the team as well as helping to organize practices and the team.
The Indiana Math Enrichment Initiative will also provide training opportunities and in person competitions for the math competition community in Indiana. The current plan is to host at least one in person MATHCOUNTS style competition and a competition for younger students. We believe one of the great values of math competitions is it brings together a large group of students, parents, and educators that love solving math problems.
In our first year, the Indiana Math Enrichment Initiative is dedicated to expanding how students experience mathematics. With your support, we are:
Elevating Competitions: Investing in and growing local math competition programs across Indiana.
Creating Inclusive Spaces: Providing fun, hands-on problem-solving opportunities for students who love math, but prefer a non-competitive environment.
